First and Second Grade Writing

Writing is an integral part of children's education. Becoming a more confident and capable writer allows students to explain their thinking and feelings and show what they know in a systematic and organized way.

As students emerge in their writing, we use a program called "Fundations" to help build a motor memory for writing letters. The program scaffolds letter writing so that letters that are formed in similar ways are learned together. The idea is that if students form letters in the most efficient way, the process of writing becomes more seamless. It is also the program that we are using to help children learn their phonics and phonological skills as well.
